Biographical information
Born and raised in Southern California, Mona is an 18-year resident of Colorado. Having grown up in the barrios of Southern California, she is proud to be a Chicana and Native American. She enjoys splitting her time between CO, CA and TX to visit her two young adults she raised as a single mom. As a known writer who focuses on issues impacting underrepresented communities, she prefers to write about social injustice, issues in the community, and stories of people of color. She is an NBCU Scholarship recipient, has won an SPJ Top of Rockies, and First Place for CCD DigiFest Stories in the News.
