Biographical information
Maricruz Herrera stands as a testament to leadership and cultural pride, tracing her roots back to the architecturally rich city of Durango, Mexico. She was raised amidst the visible disparities and injustices faced by Latinos, she channeled her experiences into advocacy, making her mark in the Denver Metro area.
Her commitment to community involvement deepened as she developed the outreach framework for the Latino Age Wave initiative under the Latino Community Foundation, focusing on the needs of Latinx elders in Montbello. In addition, she has collaborated as a consultant with various local foundations, including the Denver Foundation, The Colorado Trust, and the Latino Community Foundation.
For five years, Maricruz served on the Mayor’s Commission on Immigrants and Refugees, advocating for the rights and integration of these communities in Denver. In addition to her leadership in this area, Maricruz is a co-founder of My Nanny Solution and was a board member of Centro Humanitario for 5 years.
Today, Maricruz is a Community Engagement Specialist and the Director and founder of Colorado Changemakers Collective (CCC). Her ability to bring together diverse stakeholders and work on issues such as education, immigrant and refugee rights, seniors, transportation, and small business development has made her a respected figure in her community. Her hard work and dedication within the organization have led to establishing a trusted relationship with the city and county of Denver. Maricruz leadership has also given rise to the Institute of Promotras through CCC, spearheading initiatives for community empowerment and change.Additionally, she is currently the president for the board of directors for the St. Vincent de Paul Conference at Ascension Parish, further highlighting her commitment to community service and advocacy.
